Seven barns remaining, were restored and among others, a local museum, lodging and event location are housed. The 119 m long tide barrier with control station was built in 1979 and serves to protect against floodings, storm surges, and for dyke protection. At full hour, the pedestrians and cyclists can pass the double-leaf bascule bridge over the Hunte River and reach the Weser peninsula 'Elsflether Sand'.
