Wilfred Pickles, actor, broadcaster and personality. 1904-1978.
Born in Yorkshire, he was a BBC newsreader in the 1940s and the first to have a regional accent. Immensely popular in the 1950s and 60s with radio and TV shows, and as a theatre and film actor. Here he is interviewing native Londoners for a TV programme about life in the city.
