In 1991 Brighton Pavilion had just been freed from a cage of scaffolding and a blue tarpaulin for the first time in ten years after a ВЈ10 million refurbishment. It was photographed for the first time using the reflection it cast on a little 12ft. by 8ft. ornamental pond in the grounds. Puzzled visitors who had seen the picture kept asking Pavilion staff where the lake was.
