The blue footbridge with a golden rat connects the old quarter with the Weser island 'Werder'.
City is well-known for the fairy tale 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'. Here, the visitors can be found a lot of artificial rats and the rat-catcher in form of sculptures, fountains, reliefs and can be seen the 'Pied Piper Open-Air Play' and the Musical 'Rats'.
The Weser forms through the confluence of the rivers Fulda and Werra in Hannoversch Muenden. With a length of 452 kilometres, it is the fifth longest river in Germany. Stream flows through the federal states Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony as well as Bremen and ends into the North Sea.
