Built between 1585 and 1589 for merchant Gerd Leist, the historic structure in Weser Renaissance style is situated in the Osterstrasse in the old quarter and houses the Hameln Museum.
City is famous for the fairy tale 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'.

In the small town, the also nicknamed Baron of Lies is all present. There are the Munchhausen Museum, a grotto, fountain and few statues of him.
